Sports Injury Treatment in Las Vegas, Nevada

Soccer player representing athletes treated for sports injuries.

Las Vegas is an active city year-round: pickup basketball, desert trail runs, weekend leagues, and everything in between. When a foot or ankle injury interrupts that, Eastern Podiatry gets you diagnosed and back in motion, safely and without rushing the healing.

The injuries we see most

Sports injuries don’t care how good you are; they happen to weekend and seasoned athletes alike. Among the most common foot and ankle injuries we treat:

  • Plantar fasciitis: Excess pressure inflames the tissue supporting your arch, producing sharp pain at the bottom of the heel.
  • Achilles tendinitis: Overuse of the tendon connecting calf to heel bone; common in basketball, tennis, and distance running.
  • Stress fractures: Tiny cracks in the bones of the foot that build up from repetitive impact.
  • Ankle sprains: A twist that injures the ankle ligaments, rolling either inward (inversion) or outward (eversion).
  • Neuroma: A swollen nerve between the toes that brings pain, irritation, and inflammation.
  • Heel spurs: Bony growths on the heel bone, more likely with flat feet or high arches and influenced by age, weight, and footwear.

Symptoms to take seriously

Each injury has its own signature, but the warning signs that bring people in are consistent: muscle weakness, stiffness, swelling, and pain. Feel any of these after activity? Don’t train through it — get it checked before it becomes a bigger problem.

How we get you back

Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Dafforn focus on comprehensive, individualized care that returns you to training with minimal downtime, and they try to avoid surgery whenever possible. Conservative treatment may include protective footwear, ice, corticosteroid injections, stretching exercises, and rest. If conservative care doesn’t fully resolve the injury, we’ll discuss surgical options suited to the specific problem. The single most important factor in recovery is letting the injury heal correctly. Coming back too early is the most reliable way to re-injure it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How soon should I see a podiatrist after a sports injury?

If you can’t bear weight, have significant swelling, or aren’t improving after a few days of rest and ice, get evaluated. Early diagnosis keeps small injuries from becoming chronic.

Can I keep training while I heal?

Sometimes, with modified low-impact activity. But it depends on the diagnosis. We’ll tell you clearly what’s safe so you don’t set yourself back.

Will I need surgery?

Most sports injuries resolve with conservative care. Surgery is reserved for injuries that don’t improve or for certain fractures and ligament tears.

Do you treat athletes of all ages?

Yes, from student athletes to lifelong recreational players across the Las Vegas valley.
